Story Counter Word Progress
Reflection
Over this last school year I have seen my Spanish language skill grow from being none existent to being able to read written and listen to basics Spanish and I can now write Spanish stories anywhere from 40 to 229 word long Understand story audio clips and even speak the basics I am proud of myself looking back on the progress I have made this year and can't wait to see what skill Spanish two will bring me next year and I know it won't be as scary anymore because I will be able to take thus year skills with me.
Day Of The Dead
In Spanish 1 our first major project this year was to learn about Day of the Dead and make our own Ofrendas. Ofrendas are an imported part of Day Of The Dead and for those who don’t know what an Ofrendas is it kind of like altars constructed on the passed loved one grave on 1 and 2 of November in Mexico by family and friends and they usually consist of a photo of the departed family member or friend pan de muerto, a traditional sugary pastry eat and offer on Day Of The Dead as well as their favorite food candles maybe a personal item that once belonged to them and cempasuchil flowers which are said to lead the dead home to their loved ones. Now before we started this project, I knew that Day Of The Dead was a time to honor your lost ones but I found out there is so much more to it; it is not only a time to honor the dead but to celebrate their life through food music and dance and wall day of the dead wasn’t always what it is now do the European influence it still has some of it original root such as the bread and the flowers which is amazing to think of how this part of their culture has not only survived but kept it original purpose through it surviving it memory lives one just like thought it was made to remember and celebrate.
The main Idea of this project was to get to know more about someone that had past and had an influence on us and wall I have never had someone close to me passed beside a pet when I was quite young I do have rule models that have past a long time ago and one of them is Jane Austen she was a writer in the late 1700th century early 1800th and my personal favorite of her work is her book Pride and Prejudice I love her writing it was so ahead of her time so of course I pick her to do my ofrenda on and it gave me the opportunity for me to learn more about this amazing women and I feel like it help me to see her writing from a different perspective and insight that I didn’t have before. I have found a kind of comfort in Day of the dead throughout this project because death doesn’t always have to be sad it can be a celebrate of life also for someone memory to never truly die through which they will never die and that's it own kind of beauty.
